Stand with ONEXONE: Hope Belongs to Everyone

This past weekend we had the privilege and opportunity to celebrate the great work being done by ONEXONE, who were founded with the philosophy that every single life is precious and that as individuals we can make a profound difference in the life of another human being, one by one.

Pytor with President and CEO of Diesel Canada Inc. and Founder of ONEXONE Joey Adler, along with artists preforming at the Million Meals Movement Concert; Simple Plan, Kardinal Offishall, MAGIC! and Alyssa Reid.

Founded in 2005 by Joelle Berdugo-Adler, ONEXONE, amongst many other projects, leads the ONEXONE First Nations School Breakfast Program, developed in partnership with the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and PepsiCo Canada with the goal of ensuring the availability of healthy food to all First Nations children in the school setting.

Pytor is honoured to sit on the Advisory Council of the Breakfast Program, and on Friday attended the Inaugural Million Meals Movement at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts featuring Simple Plan, MAGIC!, Alyssa Reid & Kardinal Offishall.  This followed the launch of a community-based initiative and journey of eventually packing one million meals for children in need across North America where volunteers packed 100,000 meals at INK Entertainment venue Kool Haus.

What a concept – and sadly, what a need! 40% of First Nations children in Canada live in poverty as compared to national average of 17% of children.  In our travels across Canada as we are welcomed into First Nation communities and within Aboriginal organizations we hear and see this need regularly.  Most recently our trip to Nunavut had us overwhelmed with the cost of food and the effect is has on children and families.  It’s been reported that seven in 10 Inuit preschoolers in Nunavut live in homes without enough to eat.  To learn more about hunger and food security in the north, along with action being taken by Inuit community leaders (as well as a great interactive graphic) read this powerful article in the Globe and Mail and visit them at Feeding My Family.

For just $1.00, ONEXONE can provide a healthy breakfast for a First Nation child. This very morning, more than 4,000 First Nation children had breakfast in due to the partnership between ONEXONE, the AFN, PepsiCo Canada and all the other partners – and you too can be a partner.  To join them and be part of the solution visit here and donate today.

It’s how we create change here at Three Things Consulting – one person at a time – and we were thrilled to celebrate with ONEXONE as they demonstrate this philosophy in action.
