Msit No’Kmaq: All My Relations

We are thrilled to be hearing from so many Indigenous youth, young adults, parents, allies and communities from across Canada – all wanting to learn more about Msit No’Kmaq: All My Relations.  This amazing adventure that will bring 45 Indigenous young people between the ages of 16 – 24 across the Atlantic Ocean this August received a lot of attention this week when we launched the project officially in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.  We were grateful to our host Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief Morley Googoo and  our partners who joined us, including Waterfront Development, Ulnooweg, Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Society and Captain Arjen Töller and the crew of the Gulden Leeuw, the spectacular ship that the youth will become Sail Trainees on.  A special thanks to Member of Parliament (Halifax) Andy Fillmore for joining us and sharing such important words at the launch of Msit No’Kmaq.

Be sure to check out the media that came out of the event and in particular, listen to our team member, Saimaniq Temela share his experiences with sail training and what he is hoping it will offer to the youth who are selected.

Much thanks to the media – our present day storytellers for sharing the information across Canada.

Check out APTN News where they profiled our adventure!

CTV also joined us and shared this story:

If you scan to the 13:40 mark of the CBC story, you’ll learn more about the trip, the team and the Ship!

The Chronicle Herald shared this wonderful story.

Be sure to share this clips and make sure Indigenous young people know about this once in a lifetime opportunity!  The deadline to apply is June 7th – and we will be announcing those selected on National Aboriginal Day, June 21st 2017!  Apply today!
